    • VISA: International participants require “Conference Visa” to attend the conference. You will need to submit an invitation letter along with the visa application. An invitation letter from the local organizing committee chairs will be sent via email to everyone who has either registered or submitted an abstract to present at the conference. If you have not yet registered but plan to attend the conference, please send your email and institutional affiliation information to Ramesh (, and he will arrange for the invitation letter to be sent to you right away.
    • Flying to New Delhi: Indira Gandhi International Airport (Code: DEL) is the main airport in New Delhi. Plane fares are generally cheaper during November (at this time, a roundtrip ticket from many cities in the US to New Delhi is less than $1000).
  • 9/3/2015: Brucellosis 2015 (68th) International Research Conference meeting announcement: Sue Hagius made a few announcements:

  • 9/2/2015: Sue Hagius posted a flyer for the PATRIC workshop following this year's Brucellosis Conference. Also, major points for the Brucellosis-2015 meeting:
    • Meeting dates- December 5-6, 2015; 8 am to 5pm each day
    • Hotel reservations - Make your Chicago Marriott, Downtown Magnificent Mile reservations prior to November 11, 2015, to receive the discounted CRWAD rate ($182 plus tax for single or double occupancy/$132 federal government rate).  You may call them Toll–Free: 1-877-303-0104 or 1-866-596-7456 for international calls (request the CRWAD RATE) or make your reservations online at the link on the CRWAD web site (this custom web link has the correct code already filled in).   • 8/23/2015: The deadline for submitting poster and oral presentation abstracts for the 96th Conference of Research Workers in Animal Diseases (CRWAD). CRWAD will be held on December 7-9, 2015 Marriott Downtown on the Magnificent Mile, Chicago, IL. This year's Brucellosis conference will be held as a CRWAD satellite meeting on Dec 5 (Saturday) to Dec 6 (Sunday) on the Salon A/B/C/D on the fifth floor of the same hotel.

  • 7/31/2013: Brucellosis 2013 (66th) International Research Conference: The 66th Annual Brucellosis Research Conference will be held December 7-8 at the Chicago Marriott, Downtown Magnificent Mile, Chicago, Illinois. The deadline of abstract submissions is: October 25, 2013. Hotel reservation deadline is Nov 8, 2013 (use the CRWAD hotel sleeping room information website to get the discounted rate).   • 9/6/2012: Brucellosis 2012 (65th) International Research Conference: The 65th Annual Brucellosis Research Conference will be held December 1-2 at the Chicago Marriott, Downtown Magnificent Mile, Chicago, Illinois. The meeting will begin Saturday, December 1, at 8:00 am and conclude with the business meeting Sunday, December 2, at 5pm.   • 8/3/2012: Ms. Sue Hagius provided the following information: If you plan to attend CRWAD 2012 after our brucellosis meeting on December 1 and 2, 2012, you may need the deadlines.  Remember our registration is separate from theirs and will be in the morning before the meeting begins. The hotel reservation link which you should use is also listed.

  • 03/16/2009: 20 More Brucella Strains have been sequenced by Broad Institute. The sequences have been assembled and annotated. The collaborators for this project include Drs. David O'Callaghan (France), Adrian Whatmore (UK), and Renee Tsolis (USA).

  • 7/11/06: The International Society of Chemotherapy (ISC) will be organizing a meeting on human brucellosis in Ioannina Greece in November 2006. Further information can be sought on All world specialists on human brucellosis will be there, aiming at reaching a consensus on aspects of diagnosis, treatment, and future prospects for human brucellosis research.
  • 3/10/06: The 2006 Brucella Research Conference will be held in conjunction with CRWAD in Chicago at the downtown Marriot. Our meeting will be December 2-3; theirs December 3-5.   • 2/15/06: A new BBP version was announced to the Brucella research community. A lot of changes and updates have been made on BBP since Dr. Yongqun He joined the University of Michigan on July 1, 2005.

  • 07/26/2004: BBP is set up with the current URL.
  • 07/09/2004: VBI and its partners have been awarded a 5-year, $10.3 million contract from NIH-NIAID to establish a national Bioinformatics Resource Center (BRC) that consists of a multi-organism relational database in support of infectious disease research. Brucella is one of the targeted pathogens. Dr. Stephen Boyle from Virginia Tech is a participant of the BRC and will be involved in Brucella data annotation. Please see the press release from here.
