Molecule Role Annotation MUTATION: gltD encodes the small subunit of glutamate synthase. It is required for B. abortus growth as shown in signature-tagged transposon mutagenesis. It suggests that glutamate may serve as carbon and/or nitrogen sources during growth of B abortus (Hong et al., 2000).
