Molecule Role Annotation MUTATION: B suis ugpB mutant does not contain SP41 protein. Mutants lacking SP41 production are less invasive, but proliferate in HeLa cells. An isogenic DeltaugpB mutant showed a significant inhibitory effect on Brucella adherence and invasion of human cultured epithelial cells and this effect could be reversed by restoration of the ugpB on a plasmid. (Castañeda-Roldán et al., 2006).
